![]() The
3D CAM "SUM 3D" , for 3-dimensional milling of molds, models and equipments, is
developed for Windows platforms. |
| Graphic user interface with
icons and pop-up menues, developed in 32-bit using Open-GL. File import from other CAD/CAM systems by IGES, PARASOLID, VDA, DXF, STL and 3DM format. Direct integration with most of the CAD system, i.e. AutoCAD R14, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, Microstation, Solid Works, Solid Edge, Mastercam Design. Direct integration allow the operator to get a CAD model file directly into the CAM system: in this case no exchange in standard format (IGES, VDA, ) is needed. SUM 3D included a fast and interactive surface modeler to generate a 3D object. The surface modeler is very usefull when the operator has to add the "side surfaces" to complete the mold to machine. SUM 3D allows to create roughing, semi-finishing, finishing and rest-milling tool-paths, by using different tool types such as end mill, ball mill, bull-nose mill, and the same with tapered angle. During the tool path computing, its possible to check the part of the tool clamped into the spindle. The tool life is also checked. Sum 3D includes several post-processors for the main CNC used by mold makers. Post processors handle up to 5 axes and they are customizable. SUM 3D machining operations: Z-level roughing, contouring, zig-zag, one-way milling, Spiral milling, pencil-milling, milling between two leading curves, isoparametric curves milling up to 5 axes, automatic rest-milling, 3D pocketing, automatic plane machining surfacing, grove machining. SUM 3D is able to display rest material after a machining, and automatically create a closed area to machine as preferred. The most used machining stategies are stored in a file. This file is helpfull to create machining cycles for new mold. To easy estract part of the model, to create electrodes or part of molds, its possible to select a specific area by mouse, and save the result as a new CAM file. |
| SUM 3D Optional modules: "DIGIT" Laser and mechanical digitalizations handling module allows to import ASCII or binary file generated by laser or mechanical digitizers. SUM 3D automatically converts these files into surfaces, subtracting the probe radius and building internal sharp corners. "ZIMAGE" Scanner Bitmap images to surface conversion module. |
